Cell Therapies and Regenerative Medicine

Cell therapy is therapy in which cellular material is injected, inserted or implanted into a patient. Transplantation of therapeutic cell populations can improve perfusion, improve heart function and eventually improve quality of life for patients suffering with ischemic heart disease. Regenerative medicine is the branch of medicine that develops the process of regenerating or replaces damaged or diseased cells, tissues or organs to restore or establish normal function. This includes the generation and use of therapeutic stem cells, tissue engineering and the production of artificial organs. Examples include cell therapies.
